Our Vision

We believe a home should tell a story.

Not a story created by an algorithm, a trend cycle, or a room copied from someone else’s Pinterest board, but one built around the people who live there, the places they have been, the things they love, and the way they want to feel when they walk through the door.

Virtual interior design is at the center of what we do, but our idea of home extends beyond decorating a room. It includes the artwork on the walls, the view from the window, the architecture outside, the objects collected along the way, and the creative experiences that make a space personal.

That is why our studio brings together interior design, art, education, commissioned artwork, travel, and storytelling in one place.

We design spaces. We teach people how to see and create them. We make art inspired by them. And we explore the places, details, and experiences that make spaces memorable.

Whether we are designing an entire room, teaching you to sketch your home’s exterior, painting a landscape from a favorite trip, practicing calligraphy around a table, or creating a commissioned portrait or piece of artwork, the goal is the same: to create something that feels distinctly yours.

Our Values

Personal Over Prescriptive

There is no formula for a meaningful home. We would rather understand how you live, what you love, where you have been, and what you want your home to become than tell you what you are supposed to buy.

Designed by People

Technology is a useful tool, but it does not make our design decisions.

Our virtual designs are thoughtfully developed by hand, with selections, layouts, compositions, and details chosen specifically for each client. We use professional tools to communicate and visualize those ideas, including hand-built Photoshop presentations and technical design software when appropriate, but we do not use automated design programs to generate a room for you.

You are working with a designer, not a design generator.

Creativity Is for Everyone

We don’t believe art and design should feel inaccessible or intimidating.

Our classes are designed to help people develop their own creative voice through drawing, painting, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, calligraphy, interiors, architecture, landscapes, and the spaces around them.

You do not need to consider yourself an artist to make something meaningful.

Homes Are Collected Over Time

The most interesting spaces rarely come from buying everything at once.

They develop through travel, art, family, books, architecture, inherited pieces, unexpected discoveries, favorite colors, ordinary rituals, and objects that carry a story. We embrace that collected approach in both our design work and the way we write about spaces.

Experience Matters

We are endlessly interested in what makes a place feel good to be in.

Because we travel often, we are constantly observing spaces beyond our own homes: hotels, restaurants, landscapes, gardens, historic buildings, neighborhoods, shops, museums, architecture, and the small details that change how a place feels.

Those experiences become part of the conversation here through our journal, our art, our teaching, and ultimately our approach to design.

Our Story

Tracy

Tracy has spent more than eight years working in residential and commercial interior design, with nearly a decade of experience across the broader home and design industry.

She studied Residential Interior Design through the Rhode Island School of Design and holds professional training and certifications in AutoCAD, Revit, 2020 Design, and Chief Architect.

Her professional experience includes years working within some of the largest names in home furnishings and virtual design, including Wayfair, Wayfair Professional, One Kings Lane, and Havenly. That experience has ranged from residential interiors to commercial and hospitality projects, virtual design, furniture and material sourcing, space planning, project development, and helping clients navigate an enormous marketplace of products without losing sight of what actually belongs in their space.

Before virtual design became commonplace, Tracy was also teaching creativity in person.

She owned and operated an art studio in her city’s downtown, where she taught art and craft classes until the studio closed in 2020 with the arrival of the pandemic. Her specialties include drawing, perspective drawing, interiors and architecture, and calligraphy, along with a lifelong interest in the relationship between art and the spaces we inhabit.

Today those two parts of her background come together: designer and teacher.

“Em”

Em is an artist and educator specializing in watercolor, gouache, acrylic painting, and calligraphy.

Tracy and Em met through Tracy’s art studio in 2015. What began through art became a lasting friendship, years of shared creative ideas, and eventually the foundation for building something together.

Em brings a painter’s perspective to the studio: an understanding of color, atmosphere, landscape, observation, and the imperfect details that make handmade work feel alive.

Together, we teach classes inspired by home and place, from interiors and architectural details to landscapes, exteriors, painting, drawing, and lettering.

More Than Interior Design

This studio was created around the idea that designing a home and making art about the things that matter to us are not separate experiences.

You might come here because you need help designing your living room.

You might stay to learn how to sketch the house you grew up in.

You might commission a watercolor of a place you never want to forget, find a piece of artwork for your walls, learn perspective drawing, take a painting class with a friend, discover a maker through our shop, or read about a hotel, landscape, city, or beautifully designed corner of the world that gave us a new idea.

That is exactly what we want this to be.

A design studio, an art studio, a shop, a classroom, and an ongoing exploration of what makes a place feel like yours.
